Marsha Sue Cozzo, a woman of grace, intelligence, and quiet devotion, passed away peacefully at her home in Salem at 6:41 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on March 8, 1947, in Salem, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph Lee and Arlene Leora (Stahl) Roessler. Marsha’s journey was one defined by a sharp mind and a gentle heart, beginning at Greenford High School and continuing through her secretarial studies at the Salem Business School. Her early career even took her to the prestigious halls of the Pentagon in Washington D.C., a testament to her capability and spirit of adventure, before her heart eventually led her back home to the communities she loved in Greenford, Cleveland, Austintown, Boardman, and finally, Salem.
For 23 years, Marsha was a familiar and dependable presence at Youngstown State University, where she served as an administrative assistant in the Provost's office until her retirement in 2011. While she took great pride in her professional life, Marsha’s truest joys were found in the simple, beautiful moments of the everyday. She was a woman who found peace in the pages of a good book, the fresh air of a long walk, and the quiet contemplation of a scenic drive. Above all else, she cherished the sanctuary of her home and the time spent with her family, who remained the center of her world.
Marsha’s legacy of love lives on through her family, who will miss her warmth and steady guidance. She is survived by her daughter Jaime Lee Pater of Salem, her son Robert Cozzo of Massillon, and her four grandchildren, Matthew and Chase Pater, and Derek and Chloe Cozzo, all of whom brought her immense pride and a constant smile. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Nancy Hendricks, and brother-in-law Paul Hendricks of Ellsworth.
Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories during a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem.
