"Together Again"

Martin Luther McFarland, 90, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 14, 1931, in Leetonia, to his late parents; Edward J. and Bessie Viola (Eckman) McFarland.

Martin was a member of the United States Army; serving his country during the Korean War. Upon his return and completion in the army, he promptly married his sweetheart; Carol (Bilsky) and together they shared a wonderful life of 61 years until her passing in 2013. Martin was employed with the Salem City School System for over 20 years, serving at the Reilly Elementary School as Custodian, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles. He could also be found outdoors spending time tending to his flower garden or mowing the grass. He enjoyed the fulfillment he received of creating a beautiful yard. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was what he looked forward to the most.

Martin is survived by his children; Helen (Gilbert) Cannon of Naples, FL, Viola (Ronald) Jennings and James McFarland both of Salem, and his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife; Carol, Martin is preceded in death by his son; Edward McFarland who passed away in 2006 and siblings; Nancy Gurney, Ann Cox, Edward McFarland, and Floyd Ruffer.

There will be no public services at this time.
