Mary Frances (Ressler) Breit 102, of Salem, died from a short illness on Tuesday, January 19 at Hospice House. She was born on February 2, 1913 in Salem, the daughter of the late Charles C. and Olive (Stouffer) Ressler. She was a very active person her whole life and never really slowed down until a week ago. She was well known in the area for the selling of the World Book Encyclopedia from 1951 until about 13 years ago. She also worked with the Census Bureau, The Deming Company, Bureau of Unemployment Services, and was a skilled machinist in Revenna during the war. She loved sports and followed the Cleveland Indians and the Cavs. In the past several years she was able to attend several of the games in Cleveland. She loved her home and taking care of thing and even rewiring a lamp recently. A member of the Salem First Presbyterian Church, a Deacon of the church, Sunday School Teacher, worked in the Pre School, a member of the May Circle, and an active office volunteer. She worked with the Cub Scouts and was a member of the Salem Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children, Sylvia (David) George of Alliance, and Timothy Breit of Poulsbo, Wash., numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Breit in 1983, all her siblings, Philip Ressler, Edna Katharine Peters and Elvira R. Bass. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, 2 PM at the Salem First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Meta Cramer will be officiating the services. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. The burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
