Mary (Shaffer) Kirk, 85 of Salem, died late Monday evening at her home. She was born on March 12, 1928 in Danville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Bernard and Leona (Edward) Shaffer. She was a homemaker, but did have a Real Estate License, was a clerk at Sears, and assisted her husband with the book keeping of his gas station business in Danville. She has been a resident of the Salem area since 1972, coming from the Danville (Howard), Ohio area. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Howard, Grand Matron in the Eastern Star Utica, Ohio. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Hide-a-way ladies golf league. She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd in 2001. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Gary) Davies of Homeworth, Steve (Karyl) Kirk of Kansas and Edward Kirk of Texas, siblings, Marilyn (Jay) Nelson of Michigan and Martha "Marty" Shaffer of Florida, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandchild. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Workman Cemetery in Danville, Ohio. Services will be held on Friday, November 1, at 3 PM with the Rev. John Ryser officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. There will be graveside services on Saturday, November 2 at 1 Pm at Workman Cemetery.
