Mary "Dottie" Dorothy (née Botak)(fka Stoops) Martig, age 87, of Boardman, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by family on December 9, 2025.
Dorothy was born on July 16, 1938, in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (née Vodilko) Botak.
She was a graduate of Chaney High School and received a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University. Dorothy worked many years as a secretary at the Sacred Heart Retreat House. She was very artistic and enjoyed sewing and embroidering. She loved spending time with family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles, which she regularly aced. Dorothy was an avid bird watcher and she adored her cats King Louie and Mama Cat.
Dorothy is survived by son James (Barbara) Stoops of Walworth, NY, four daughters; Susan Kennedy (Eric Hall) of Mount Vernon, WA, Mary (Bruce) Rhodes of Greenford, OH, Janie Stoops of Boardman, OH, and Sally Stoops (Sean McDougal) of Richfield, OH, sister Nancy (Sol) Gully of Mashpee, MA, and brother Thomas (Beth) Botak of Oakridge, OR, as well as nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel.
Arrangements were made by the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem. Private services will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Dorothy will be laid to rest.
