Mary Ellen Patricia(Meglan) Pizzino, 69, of Salem, died at her home February 29, 2016. She was born on Jan. 16,1947 in Lorain, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carl Paul Meglan, Florence Patricia (Brock) Meglan-Forsty and stepfather George Forsty. Mary Ellen dedicated her life to the healthcare industry. She was a Paramedic, Marketing Representative and Training Director starting in 1978 with Gold Cross Ambulance, Rural Metro Ambulance and most currently EMT Ambulance. She also formerly worked with Hofmeister Realty and Towne and Suburban Realty in Salem. the was a 1965 graduate of Perry Memorial in Painesville, Ohio attended the Columbus Business University, Lakeland College, was a graduate of the Aultman Paramedic Program, and held an Ohio Real Estate License. She worked closely with the American Heart Association and served as a Basic Life Support(BLS) and Advanced Care Life Support(ACLS)instructor. A member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Garden Club of Ohio, National Safety Council, Salem Safety Council and a past board member at Sunrise Homes. She was known over the years for her love to care for the needs of the elderly and worked closely with local facilities to make sure their needs were met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene D. Pizzino II, who passed while serving during the Vietnam War in 1969. She is survived by her three daughters, Wendy(Alan) McPherson of Hilliard, Tracy Amigo of Columbus, and Marsi (Bryant) Bezon of Salem; her five grandchildren, Morgan Amigo, Graham and Brooke McPherson and Blake and Avery Bezon; siblings, Carl P. Meglan Jr. of Columbus and Richard Forsty of Perry. A visitation, in honor of her memory, will be held in Salem, Ohio on Friday, May 6th from 5-7pm at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. A grave-side service will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 12:30pm at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville, Ohio. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association in her memory, Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
