IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Thomas
Chmura
October 14, 1960 – April 11, 2025
Michael Thomas Chmura 64, of Salem, died peacefully at 8:15 PM Friday, April 11, 2025, at his home.
He was born on October 14, 1960, in Boston, MA, son of the late Donald J. and Loretta G. (DeDoming) Chmura.
Michael was the "Funny Guy", his one liners would bring laughter to tears. He was caring and compassionte taking care of his wife Melissa and mother-in-law Kaye. He loved Boston, where he would visit family and his favorite spot Nantasket Beach in Hull, MA. He wouldn't leave Boston until he had his favorite foods; a large plate of clams and Pleasant Cafe Pizza. Mike's greatest passion was music, this love inspired him to learn to play guitar, which he excelled at. He even composed a rift, and played for his mother, Loretta. Michael was currently employed at Fresh Mark in Salem for 18 years, in the dry storage department. He was dedicated to his job with a perfect record of attendance.
Even though Michael is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in all the lives he touched and the love he shared. His sister, Jeanne, recently spoke of Mike, "If love could keep us here, Mike would live forever".
He is survived by his wife, the former Melissa Kaye Magyaros, whom he married May 19, 1990, sister Jeanne Chmura of South Boston, MA, brother Donald (Celeste) Chmura of Hot Springs, AR, brothers-in-law Bob Magyaros of Chagrin Falls, Barry (Debbie) Magyaros of Cincinnati, and Jose Pagan (Mary's husband) of Quincy, MA, sisters-in-law Melody (Mark) Franken of Columbiana and Anne Magyaros of Hilton Head, SC, father-in-law John Magyaros of Salem, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Paul Chmura, sister Mary Chmura, and his dear mother-in-law Kaye Magyaros.
