Nana E. (Halverstadt) Tarleton, 98, of Salem, died at 9:25 AM Saturday, March 7, at Essex of Salem II following a lengthy illness. Nana Elizabeth Halverstadt was born September 8, 1916, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Roscoe B. and Dorothy (Grubbs) Halverstadt. A Salem resident for most of her life, she was a registered nurse with the Visiting Nurses Association when she retired. She graduated from Leetonia High School (Ohio) in 1933 and from the Alliance City Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. She was a member of the Salem First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Fadely Guild, and of the Florence Nightingale Nurses Association. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Walter) Landis of Falls Church, Virginia, John M. Tarleton of Salem, Shelley Tarleton (Raymond Griffin) of Dayton, Ohio, Lissa Tarleton of Melbourne, Australia, and Donald B. Tarleton of Lisbon; grandchildren Scott (Elizabeth) Hanna of Austin, Texas, Daniel (Lilia Botelho) Hanna of Evanston, Illinois, and Alexa Thompson of Melbourne, Australia; three great-grandchildren; and siblings Robert D. Halverstadt of Redding, Connecticut, and William D. (Donna) Halverstadt of Hamel, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis A. Tarleton, her brother Richard M. Halverstadt, and two sisters-in-law. Services will be held on Saturday, 11 AM at the Salem First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bruce Irwin officiating. The burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 7-9 PM Friday at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem, and one hour prior to services at the church. (Those coming to the church are asked to park in the new south parking lot and use the entrance with the elevator.) The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Salem First United Methodist Church 244 South Braodway, Salem, Ohio 44460 or to the Halverstadt Family Foundation, ? David N.
