Obituary

Orville Blackburn 90, of Salem, died at 9:50 AM Tuesday at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 8, 1924 in McCombs, Ky., the son of the late Pete and Nora (Justice) Blackburn. He moved to Ohio in 1993 and was a former coal miner and Truck driver. Orville served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945. He attended the Southeast Friends Church in Salem. He was a very giving person and loved to hunt and fish. He was part owner of a camp ground in Ashtabula. Orville was very bull headed but liked to do things according to the "old school" ways. He is survived by his children, Rose Ann Wilson of Michigan, Barbara Remy of Texas, Theresa Gillen of Michigan, and Darrell (April) Blackburn of Arizona, siblings, Rosa Hite, Avenell (Gordon) Hite and Bill (Rose Mae) Blackburn all of Salem, Leon Blackburn in Michigan, Marietta (Paul) Camnatella of Michigan, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grand child. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Pearl White in 1972, children Danny, Cary, and Jerry Blackburn, siblings, George, James, Archel and Ronnie Blackburn and Hilda Ousley. Services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 10:30 AM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Rev. Craig Henry of the church will officiate and the Salem Honor Guard will provide military honors. The burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
