IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick Joseph
Mcgrath
May 30, 1950 – November 15, 2024
Patrick Joseph McGrath 74, of Austintown, died at 2:35 PM on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.
He was born May 30, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of John Francis and Mary Jane (Halligan) McGrath.
Patrick was a retired USMC Major who spent his retirement days enjoying home DIY projects, family events, keeping up with politics, and golfing. A Pittsburgher through and through, he was a Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates aficionado. He could fix anything and if he didn't know how, he learned how. He was his own prankster and his subtle smirks will be missed. Patrick was also very proud of his Irish heritage, visiting his ancestral land many times throughout the years.
He will be remembered by his family as the one who showed up first in times of need (and for spontaneous visits). He was known and loved by all children for consistently having a pocketful of Smarties candy. Coming together for his wake on November 30th would have been a highlight in his life.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claudia Ann (Gillman) McGrath, whom he married May 7, 1971, daughters Jennifer (Todd) Miller of Austintown and April (David) Lutzky of New Jersey, sisters Marianne (Rick) Kremer, and Erin (Brendan) Begley and his grandchildren Courtney, Alex, Nicolas, and Noah.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Jack "Jackie", and Matthew McGrath.
