Paul Nathan Whitehead 61, of Salem, died early Saturday morning with his loving family at his side, January 29, 2022, at Salem Regional Medical Center following complications to COVID.
He was born September 7, 1960 at home in Lisbon, Ohio, the son of the late William E. and Jennie M. (Stewart) Whitehead.
Paul attended Leetonia Schools and served in Jobs Corp. He had moved from the area in 1989, and returned in 2001 from Kendallville, Ind. He most recently been working at Ventra – Salem, but had also worked at MAC Trailor and American-Standard-Salem.
Paul was a unique and special person. There were many sides of him, but no matter who he was around, he made the people smile and laugh. He was a true people person, and enjoyed various social establishments around the area.
The great outdoors and all the great fresh air was where you could often find him. His motorcycle riding and with the Riders of the AmVets, camping, hunting, fishing, (ice fishing also) or just mushroom picking in the woods.
If Paul was out, you were sure to hear his choice of music and hear him singing along, dancing with it or doing Karaoke. He loved to play pool, darts, horse shoes, and shuffle board
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, the former Donna Jean Bell, his children; Lisa (Shannon) Agee of Boardman, Dawn Howe of Salem and Benjamin (LeAnn) Schreffler of Lisbon, fifteen grandchildren; Timothy (Jessica) Bailey, Allen Harris, Shana Sherman, Brittani (Dwyain) Montgomery, Andrew Wilding, Brandon Mason, Nathaniel Quinn, Haylee Heverly, Madysen Howe, Rebecca Kristy, Cheyanne Schreffler, Ralph Schreffler, Kiera Schreffler, Damion Schreffler and Isaac Schreffler, three great grandchildren; Noah Bailey, Lolita Harris and Austin Schreffler, siblings; Earla K. (James) Yetter in Pennsylvania and Kendra M. (Paul) Wildgoose of Colorado, mother-in-law Frances Bell in N. Lima, additional in-laws include; Deborah (Joe) Dickey of N. Lima, Diana (Todd) Feicht, Darcie (Arthur) McFarland of Leetonia and David Bell of Austintown, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law; Donald Bell Sr., niece-in-laws; Shawnt'a Bell and Tammy Dickey, Brother-in-law; Donald Bell Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 1 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Pastor Todd Nye (His Cousin) will be officiating. A time of visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday. ( Due to the weather and every ones safety, the burial will be delayed to another day at Washingtonville Cemetery.) Additionally, the service will be video taped and will be available to watch at a later time, following the services.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Proia and the ICU nurses at Salem Regional Medical Center for their amazing care, compassion and patience.
