November 5, 1950 – August 24, 2024
Rex Corathers 73, of Alliance, died at 1:10 PM Saturday, August 24, 2024, at McCrea Manor in Alliance.
He was born on November 5, 1950, in Nutter Fort, W.Va., the son of the late Marshall David and Jane (May) Corathers.
Rex was a machinist by trade and worked at Shot Metal, Keisers, and Gray Fin. He served exactly four years in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Thelma (Howard) (aka Taucher) Corathers, whom he married on June 30, 1984, His step-children who were like his own, Rick Taucher of Salem and Jim Taucher of Alliance, a sister Shelia Adams of Akron, six grandchildren; Ashley and Haley Christani, Trixie Head, Tricia Herron, Adam and Luke Taucher, and one great-grandchild; Jackson Buso.
Rex was a man of few words but was always willing to give the shirt off his own back to help his family and others. He had a competitive nature and enjoyed playing all types of games. If something needed repaired, Rex was the man to call. He loved being outdoors; 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening were a few of his favorite activities. He loved spending time with his wife in the kitchen, cooking their favorite meals together, and you could often find Rex in his chair, relaxing and watching a good old western movie.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter; Judy Kay Taucher, and six siblings; Daniel, David, Timothy, Bonnie, Ricky, and Marsha Corathers.
