IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Alan
Mclaughlin
September 24, 1945 – May 8, 2021
Richard Alan McLaughlin, 75, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 8, 2021.
He was born September 24, 1945, in Alliance, Ohio, son of the late James Jay and Blanche Arenia (Willard) McLaughlin.
Richard was a 1963 graduate from Salem Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1971. He was a cook on the USS Fulton who supplied submarines along the eastern coast of the U.S. during the Vietnam War. Richard worked at A&P Meat Packing plant in Salem for many years until their closing. He then moved on to American Standard until his retirement. Richard was a classic car enthusiast, especially the Chevy Chevelle Super Sports that he had owned. He was well known at the Salem Drag Strip from a very young age and then later running cars. If there was a good car show or swap meet to be found, he was some where around. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, played softball in his younger years, and was known as "Porky". The love of the sport followed down to his children. He enjoyed watching his daughters play softball and served as an umpire.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Gary) Blough of Salem, a sister, Marcia (Jim) Kundravi of Salem, and grandchildren Collin Hoaglin, Kyle Blough, Andrew Blough, and Daniel Blough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Sheri Bartolotti Thompson and a sister, Gayle Burnette. Arrangements are being handled by Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. No services will be held at this time.
A private Celebration of Life Remembrance will be held for family and friends at a future date.
