IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose Marie
(Stine) Maple
February 24, 1953 – September 5, 2025
Rose Marie (Stine) Maple, age 72, of Wellsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 8:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville.
Born on February 24, 1953, in Steubenville, Rose was the cherished daughter of the late Dean Stanley and Florence Marie (Shepherd) Stine.
A proud graduate of Springfield High School—now part of the Edison Local School District. Rose's life was marked by adventure, resilience, and a deep love for people and the world around her. As a former military spouse, she embraced the opportunity to live and work in Germany and across the United States, including Alabama, Texas, and Grove City, Ohio. Her journey was filled with meaningful connections and lifelong friendships. She retired from a dedicated career as a federal government building inspector.
A passionate home chef and baker, Rose delighted in discovering and experimenting with new recipes. She also enjoyed needlepoint, traveling, RV camping at Clendenning Lake, and was an avid reader with a sharp literary mind. Known affectionately as the "Queen of Green," Rose was a tireless advocate for recycling and sustainability, generously sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Her adventurous spirit even led her to obtain a Pyrotechnic License alongside her husband, Valiant—a testament to their shared love of unique experiences.
Rose is survived by her devoted husband, Valiant Lee Maple, whom she married on July 19, 2008; her step-children; Mary Ann Crook (Craig Williams) of Wellsville, Ohio, Colin (Dorothy) Maple of East Liverpool, Ohio, Kelsi (James) Hickman of Calcutta, Ohio, Kenneth (Brenda) Portwood of Lexington, Kentucky, and Carla (Ronald) Yocum of Stanford, Kentucky, her beloved daughter-in-law and friend Cindy (Edward) Runyon of Taylorsville, Kentucky, her sister Mary Lou Stine of Bergholz, Ohio, many treasured step-grandchildren, and a wide circle of dear family and friends who enriched her life.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a step-grandchild.
A casual graveside service will be held at on Saturday, September 13, 2025, 1 PM, at Foxfield Preserve in Wilmot, Ohio, a cemetery dedicated to natural, green burials—an especially fitting tribute to Rose's commitment to environmental stewardship. Following the service, a meal and time of fellowship will be held at the onsite Wilderness Center, in the Buckeye Room, where loved ones can gather to share memories and celebrate Rose's remarkable life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem.
