Ruby Mae (Teevan) Alter 64, of Salem, died at 6:34 PM Thursday at Select Speciality Hospital in Boardman.

She was born on December 22, 1952 in South Gate, LA County, CA, the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Audrey Valentine (Maxcey) Teevan.

She was a retired buyer for the Philadelphia Electric Company. Ruby was a real outdoors lover and enjoyed going camping and fishing. Her main goal in life was to be out shopping when ever possible and then settle down to a good book to read.

She will be missed by her husband, James Howard Alter, whom she married in 1970, her children, James "JJ" Alter of PA, Misty (Darrin) Sturgell of Columbiana, Christopher (Jessica) Alter of PA, Cary (Lisa) Alter of MO, Ginger (John) Hummel of PA, Howard (Dorothy "Dot" ) Alter of PA, and Margaret (Roger) Hawk of PA, a sister, Mary (Dennis) Carter of TX, 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Gary.

There will be no services held at this time.
