Obituary

Ruth Ann (Smith) Park 72, of Akron, died at 3:53 PM Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Summa/Akron City Hospital following complications to COVID. She was born on July 7, 1949, in Akron, the daughter of the late Donald E. and Ruth Evelyn (LeMasters) Smith. She was last employed at the Fairlawn Division of Infocision where she retired as a supervisor. Ruth who was often called "Ruthie and Ratchet" by her family will be truly missed by all who knew her. All those who loved her find solace that she is back home with God and her loved ones. Her Keychain said it best "without him I'd be lost". She was such a caring person and was there for her family when ever the need came up. Her home at times was a place for the family to gather. The family could count on her to be there to help others, but she adored her husband "Bear" more than anything else. It was a guaranteed thing, if Ruth was at a gathering, you could walk in and that special laugh of hers could be easily heard. Ruth was also one to go visit the relatives and made numerous trips to Salem. Ruth had her way of doing things and could be a bit cantankerous if others would try to change things. She liked to follow the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and of course the Browns. She was always having something close to her that helped her over the years. A big collector of "anything bears" or a special dog in the house. Things like this gave her the feeling of need and something to cling to. It was also a purpose to be doing something and kept her busy. She enjoyed her tablet which connected her with friends and family through Word games or just messages and life updates. She is survived by her siblings; Robert Smith of Germany, John Smith and Doris Lange both of Akron, and Mark Smith of Stanley, Va., and her nieces and nephews that are all scattered about. Ruth kept up with those who were close by, but others kinda drifted their own way. Karl "Matt" Lange, Deona J. (Harold Adams) Lange, Christina Lange, James Lange, Jacob "Jake" Smith, as well as Paula, Lisa, Diana, Melissa, and Laura. Great nieces and nephews; Alicia (Brandon) Barnes, Anna Lange, and numerous others, as well as great great nieces and nephews; Colin Glenn Barnes and others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Glenn R. "Bear" Park on May 2, 2020, a son Lance Wargo, siblings; Kathleen and Donald "Donnie" Smith. There have been no plans made about services but there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Please reach out to the family to extend your condolences.
