Shirley Ann (Key) Applegate 72, of Salem, died at her home on Thursday. She was born on December 28, 1940 in Birmingham, Ala. The daughter of the late Giles and Opal Key. She was employed at Ort Furniture and attended the Jehovah Witness Church. She is survived by a son, Adam Applegate of Boardman, and a sister Mary Narmore of Jasper, Ala., five step grandchildren and 15 step great grand grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Applegate in 1981. It was her desire that there be no services held and the burial be private.
