Obituary

Suzanne Tulbure Cowen, 73, of Salem, died at 11:20 pm on Sunday, March 31st at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in downtown Youngstown, OH, from complications due to a recent stroke.

"Suzy" was born on July 1, 1945 in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of the late Andrew (Andy) Oliver Tulbure and Mary Riddle Williams.

As a young woman, Suzy was elected the Honored Queen of Job's Daughters, graduated from David Anderson High School, and attended Ohio University. She loved dancing, reading, and spending time with her family, particularly holidays, road trips to North Carolina, and visits from her sisters, children, and grandchildren. She also adored her dogs, who provided unending and unconditional companionship over the years.

Suzy was the one of the kindest souls you've ever met and rarely had a negative thing to say about anyone. She was a wonderful mother who taught her children to persevere, dream big, and laugh at themselves. Her laughter and warmth will be missed by all who love her and were lucky enough to have her in their lives.

She is survived by her children, Mila (Michael) Cainey of Charlotte, NC and Jeff (Crystal) Cowen of The Plains, OH; her sisters Sandra Arter of Salem, OH and Maia Williams (Wyman Rousseau) of Charlotte, NC and San Miguel de Allende, MX; and her 4 granddaughters Suzanna and Olivia Cainey of Charlotte, NC, and Adelyn and Emilia Cowen of The Plains, OH.

Cremation arrangements were trusted to the care of the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral Home in Salem, OH. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 6th, 2019 for family and friends.
