Suzanne "Sue" (Shearer) Smith, 86, of Salem, passed away at 11:25 AM, Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Windsor House/St Mary's Alzeheimer's Center in Columbiana.
She was born October 16, 1936, in Ravenna, Ohio, daughter of the late Howard E. and Miriam Mae (Miller) Shearer.
Sue enjoyed participating with her husband in his many functions and was a member of the Eastern Stars. She also enjoyed visiting her long-distance family, cooking, gardening, collecting teapots and owl figurines and most of all spoiling her dogs. Sue was a member of the Greenford Lutheran Church and a past treasurer of the church. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Chappell & Zimmerman and Sebring Container before her retirement.
Surviving are her children; Robert (Debbie) Smith, Marilyn Blackburn, and Doug (Dorie) Smith, her brother Howard (Fran) Shearer, her sister-in law Katie Smith, her grandchildren; Brian (Jamie) Smith, Becky Smith (Derik Heidemann), Mike Smith, Eric Smith, Brandy (Joe) Huckaby, Andy Blackburn, Jake (Courtney) Blackburn, Toby Blackburn, Jonas Smith, Jocelyn (Audric) Tejedor, Jared (Bridgette) Smith, her great grandchildren; Kristen and Luke Smith, Paige and Kaleb Huckaby, Aiden, Jayden, Brantlee, Paisley and Tobias Blackburn, Ikaika, Malinah and Kekoa Tejedor and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death in February 2022, by her husband of 66 years, Edwin, whom she married November 1955, brother Jim Shearer, son-in-law David Blackburn, grandson Joseph Blackburn and great grandson Kalani Tejedor.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, August 1, 2023, 11 AM at the Greenford Lutheran Church, 7450 S Range Rd, Salem, OH 44460. Following the service and luncheon Edwin and Sue will be laid to rest together in the Grandview Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Greenisen family at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem.
