Venita Ann
Tschappatt-Matheney
Dec 24, 1960 — Oct 9, 2026
East Palestine
In Loving Memory of Venita Tschappatt-Matheney, who passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026.
She was born on December 24, 1960, in Salem, the daughter of Linda (Taylor) Tschappatt and the late Robert Tschappatt.
Venita was a free spirit who lived life on her own terms. She was a woman of many layers, impossible to define in just a few words and far from a simple person to understand. She had a generous side that could show itself when someone was hungry, struggling, or in need. She believed in giving what she could, whether it was a meal, a helping hand, or something someone needed to get through a difficult time. To those who experienced her kindness, those moments mattered.
But her story, like all human stories, was complicated. She possessed a sharp mind, a strong will, and a way of navigating the world that could leave lasting impressions on the people around her. She was a woman of contrasts, capable of both generosity and hurt, warmth and conflict, kindness and complexity.
She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered differently by different people. Some will remember her free spirit and the times she gave freely. Others will remember the challenges of loving her and the lessons learned through that relationship. Each person will carry their own memories, shaped by their own experience.
In the end, she was human, imperfect, complicated, and entirely her own person. Her life was a story of many chapters, and those who knew her will remember it in their own way.
She is survived by her three children, Sheryl Matheney, Tiffany Matheney, and Samuel Matheney, and two precious and undoubtedly cherished grandchildren.
