Obituary

Virginia M. (Cutting) Spanbauer, 88, of Salem, died Friday, December 15, 2017, at home. She was born April 2, 1929 in Willoughby, OH, daughter of the late Henry and Grace (Percival) Cutting. She married Francis Spanbauer on July 16, 1955 in Braceville, OH. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1997.
Virginia grew up near Braceville, OH. She met her husband Frank while working in a dry cleaning establishment. She and her husband Frank lived for a time in England while Frank was in the Air Force. After returning to Ohio, Virginia worked so Frank could attend college and earn his engineering degree. After Frank earned his degree; they eventually settled in Houston, TX where Frank worked for the Gulf Oil Exploration and Petroleum Company. They returned to be near family in Ohio in 1995. Virginia was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, crocheting, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Salem.
She is survived by her sister Betty Jadloski, sisters-in-law Gretchen Whitman, Cathie (Jack) DeFazio, Doris Yeagley, Mary Ellen Shoop, brother-in-law Ron (Shirley) Shoop and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Shirley Salcone.
