Obituary

Butler Twp. William C. Stephen 92, of Salem, died at 7:24 AM Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 10, 1923 in Mologa, Ohio, the son of the late Milton and Anna R. (Jeffers) Stephen. He was a member of the Winona Methodist Church and a retired machine repairman from GM Lordstown. He had also been employed at Chrysler Plant in Twinsburg, Hercules in Canton and MAC trailer in Maryland. He was very proud to be an American and a proud US Army WW2 veteran and made sure all knew it. He was a life member of the Salem Am Vets, formerly in VFW in Alliance and Lake Milton American Legion. He assisted in taking veterans to the VA hospital. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing, worked on the family farm, go boating but most of all work hard. An avid gardener, loved his cars, raised chickens, enjoyed bingo and eating ice cream. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Martha Ann Tennant, whom he married on January 28, 1970, their children, Donna Marie (Christopher) Wack of Canfield, Sonya Ann (Gerald) McCracken of Alliance, Toynette (Ray) Heverly Jr. of Beloit, and Wendie Lea (Chuck) Hill of Kensington, a sister Thelma Froehley of Barnesville, thirteen grandchildren, Kelly (Gordy) McDevitt, Kyle (Valerie) Wack, Katie (Jason) Miller, Andy and Tim McCracken, Mikey (Beau) Keller, Ben (Ashley) Heverly, Donny (Tiffani) Heverly, Bailey (Nathan) Green, Rayne (Ben) Leasure, Mazie, Willow and Laney Hill, sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eleven siblings. A time of visitation will be observed on Monday from 6-8 Pm at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit where he will be entombed. The family will be officiating with the Salem Honor Guard to render military honors.
