Adell Louise Phillis 8/6/1947 - 6/9/2022
She lived life with enthusiasm. Adell was born in Whitney, NB to Ruth Ann Sonnenfelt and they lived with her grandmother, Celia. Her mother later married Adrian M. Beukelman and Adell took his name. After graduating from Brooklyn HS in Michigan, she joined the Airforce where she met her husband, Joseph Phillis. They moved to Columbiana County, Ohio and worked on his family farm. Adell became a caregiver for the mentally challenged, a job she returned to throughout her life. She worked for various agencies, most recently Turning Point. She was Health and Safety Director for the local Red Cross and worked at A Place for Paws. She was a founder of Four Paws for Love dog therapy group and Fyreside Kennel. She never met a plant or animal that she didn’t like. You always knew where you stood with her.
Her family and friends who survive her include her son, Joseph and Crystal Phillis and Abbi, Sarah, Tristan and Xavier, daughter Rachel and Brian Weinstock and Jessica Grimm, sister Candace Smentzak and her children Crystal, Kaitlyn, and Martin, niece, Deb Ritchey, friend ,Ginger Grilli, and foster daughter, Penny Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her grandson, Roy Woods, II.
Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in NB at a later date.
