Andrew Burns Obituary

Andrew Clark Burns, 86, of Green Twp., Salem, OH, with his family closeby, was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

He was born on June 22, 1935, in Willet, PA, to his late parents; Charlie and Adeline (Juart) Burns.

Andy met his sweetheart, Lorraine Irwin, and they were married on November 14, 1954. They shared 67 years together raising four children and watching their family grow. He worked 25 years at the Youngstown Vindicator and retired as a District Manager at the age of 63. He was mechanically minded, fixing anything. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

At the age of 25 Andy's life was changed when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He tried to live each day for the Lord. He shared the message of salvation by faith in Christ and desired for all to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  One of his favorite verses was Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served diligently for many years as a Deacon, a teacher, working with the van ministry on visitation and faithfully praying. He was burdened for the children.  He had a servant's heart and gave of his time and talents freely.

In addition to his wife; Lorraine, Andy is survived by his children; Carole Lynn Oaks of Washingtonville, Jannette (Ray) Mathews of Enon Valley, PA, Jonathan (Traci) Burns of Canastota, NY, Matthew (Angela) Burns of Youngstown, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, sister; Hazel Sullivan of Ravenna.

Preceding Andy in death in addition to his parents were his siblings; Bobby, Edna May, Charlene and Ernie Burns.

A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m at the Calvary Baptist Church, Salem, OH with Pastor Jonathan Burns and Pastor Justin Vance officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 prior to the service.
