Arlene Ellen (Vickers) Smith

Arlene Ellen (Vickers) Smith, 73, of Salem, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023, at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.

She was born on May 13, 1949, in Hot Springs, South Dakota, daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Papic) Vickers.

Arlene worked for Hope Manufacturing, Hart Products, and Modern Store Fixtures for 27 combined years and was the owner of Creative Retail, Inc. for 30 years. Arlene was a very hard worker and traveled to 46 different states for her work and also vacations over the years. Her hobbies included crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, painting carosual horses, collecting and taking care of plants, and she loved going to Mountaineer Casino. Arlene enjoyed spending the holidays with her family and had many friends. She had an especially close bond with her two grandsons whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Robert) Hutcheson, a sister-in-law Cheryl Vickers, two grandsons Zane and Cole Hutcheson, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ronald and Carl Vickers.

Many thanks to the friendly staff of Parkside Health Care Center, Arlene greatly enjoyed their kindness and respect.

There will be no services per Arlene’s request. Arrangements were made by the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem.
