Charles H Conkle 79, of Minerva, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.
Charles was born February 13, 1942, in Salem, Oh., the son of Charles Sylvester “Pete” and Marion Elizabeth (Jones) Conkle.
He was a graduate of Goshen (West Branch) High School class of 1960 and then served in the US Navy. He later worked at EW Bliss and was a farmer down by Lisbon before moving in 1985 to Wisconsin to continue his love for farming. Upon his return to Ohio in 1993, he worked many years building fences with Chuck Bandy and Homer Althouse.
Charles enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, relaxing on his back porch with a Budweiser and his Pipe. He raised many Jersey cows and pigs over the years on the farms. All farmers have to have a sidekick, Shetland Sheep Dogs and beagles were his favorite dogs. He was a hard-working man running the farms, but also found time for his girls.
He is survived by his daughters; Katy Sue Conkle of Rice Lake, Wis. and Kelley Ann (John) Anderson of Glen Flora, Wis., grandchild; Triston Helling, Davanee Nelson, John Anderson III, Cody Martin, Rebecca Anderson, Kati Anderson, and Charles Barna, great-grandchildren; Cain Nelson and Josie Lambertus, sister; Eileen (Richard) Wallace of Sebring.
He held a special place in his heart and many fond memories with his nephews; Kevin Dow, Rex Smith, and Pete Smith, and his Great nephews; Richard Dow, Kenny Dow, and Great Niece; Brittney (Hillbilly) Henderson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son Curtis Conkle, Sisters; Barbara Hoffman, Evelyn Dow, and Margaret “Peggy” Smith.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, 1 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The burial will immediately follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery. The Salem Honor Guard will be offering Military Honors at the beginning of the services. The time of visitation will be from 12 to 1 PM.
