BELOIT, Ohio -

Edna E Greenawalt, 92, of Beloit, died Monday afternoon at 1:40 PM November 30, 2020, at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton following a 2 week battle with COVID-19.

Born August 8, 1928 in Garfield, Ohio to the late Frank and Florence (Irvin) Mather. Edna was a member of the Goshen High School class of 1946. She married Robert W Greenawalt on June 7, 1946. Her husband of 57 years, died January 28, 2004.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Arthur) Greenawalt Westrem of Beloit, two sons, Roger (Terri) Greenawalt of Beloit and William Greenawalt of Lisbon, Ohio. One sister-in-law Amelia (Millie) Mather of Salem. One brother-in-law, Samuel Greenawalt of Beloit. Two grandsons and two great grandsons. As well as her grand dog, T-bone (her faithful companion).

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Greenawalt; two sisters, Martha Flory and Elma Kerr, one brother Earl Mather and one half brother Raymond Mather.

Prior to her marriage to Robert, Edna had worked in the Sebring potteries and once married, she joined her husband in working and operating the family farm in Beloit, up until a few years prior to his death. Also, she retired after 21 years as a school bus driver for West Branch Local Schools.

Edna was a member of the Smith Grange and had been a member of the Grange for 77 years as well as the Home Extension. She very much enjoyed crocheting (even after losing her sight) and making craft items, which she enjoyed taking to the local Christmas bazaars or just passing them along to friends and family or even a stranger along the way. Her talents also included cooking and sewing and writing poetry and short story books, which she shared as well. Before losing her eyesight she was always creating greeting cards on the computer.

Her and her husband had been members of the Soxos (729 RWY OP BATTALION GROUP) where she began her love for traveling, which she continued up until recent years. With cruises being her favorite. Not to mention attending the Canfield Fair every year.
