Erik Christopher Carlson 32, of Salem Twp, Salem, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at his home.
He was born on August 25, 1989, in Bottineau, ND., the son of Chris R. Carlson and Shelley (Kleespie) Carlson.
Erik was a true nature lover and found it very relaxing to soak it all in. His father, a teacher himself, taught him all about forestry and conservation. This allowed him to work on many projects over the years. He was also a gun enthusiast since the age of six and formerly participated in sports when he was younger. He served three years in the US Marine Corp. and served during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. On July 23, 2010, he placed his life on the line and saved the lives of many others. He was awarded a Commendation for outstanding Motivation and Dedication to the duty. This award reflects the highest traditions of a true US Marine.
In addition to his parents of Salem, he is survived by two half brothers; David Flaata of South Carolina and Michael (Magen Modle) Flaata of Columbus, Oh. And his faithful companion, Rocky his black lab.
He was preceded in death by a half-brother Billy Flaata.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, 1 Pm at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Salem Honor Guard will be offering military honors. The time of visitation will be from 12 to 1 PM on Saturday.
