Gemma Simpson Obituary

Gemma Rose Simpson 37, of Salem, (Also known as “Princess Gemma”) died at 2:18 PM Saturday, April 2, 2022, in the emergency room of Akron General / Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Akron.

She was born in Lewisville, Tx., the daughter of Lillian Elaine Simpson.

Gemma has been a resident of the Smith Center for a number of years. She always liked to be busy doing things, but in her time frame and schedule. There were many things she enjoyed doing with the Turning Point Family. If there was a dance, going to the community center to swim, special girls night, dancing, getting her nails done, being the Cinderella Princess in full dress, and listening to Brittney Spears. If the time allowed it in the schedule, she enjoyed getting iced french vanilla from Dunkin Donuts and eating at Bob Evans, those weekly visits to mom's home in Akron. She worked hard at the No Limit Day Program here in Salem.

In addition to her mother of Akron, she is survived by her Turning Point Family, Katherine Hanlon Phillips and Missi Brink and staff, and her special roommate Joy Vollnogle.

A special thanks to APSI (Advocacy and Protective Services, Inc), the Staff or Turning point, and Turning Point staff.

A time of visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, followed by a service at 11 AM at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen 7 Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The time of visitation will be from 10-11 Am at the funeral.
