Gerald R. Boring Jr. 64, of Salem, died at 1:35 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Heritage Manor in Youngstown.
He was born on November 7, 1957 in Alliance, Ohio, the son of the late Gerald R. and Mary Lois (Westover) Boring Sr.
Gerald attended Beaver Local Schools and then Joined the US Navy, followed by the US Army. He served during the Vietnam War from 1974 to 1978 and from 1981 to 1989. Gerald had attended services at the Salem Salvation Army.
He had previously worked at Merit Machine, Revenna Aluminum and Infocision.
He was big into music in his younger years and played in “Moon Dog” band. Gerald was a NASCAR and College football fan. He was a man to tinker with things as well as his motorcycle. In the more recent years he found comfort in two different things, video games and taking nice long naps.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Joanne Buchanan, children; Wendy (Michael) Babcock of Arizona, Krystal (Robin) Leslie of Missouri and John Buchanan of Salem, siblings Robert (Kristy) Boring of Toledo, Harlan (Stacy) Boring and Karen Parkin both of Florida, nine grandchildren.
Services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, 1 PM, Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services with Capt. Gene Spencer and the Salem Honor Guard. He will be laid to rest the next day at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio.
