Geraldine Kay (Borton) Dorsey

Geraldine Kay (Borton) Dorsey, 77, of Salem, died at 9:36 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Altercare Louisville.

She was born July 3, 1945 in Salem, daughter of the late Clarence M. and Effie P. (Jones) Borton.

Geraldine graduated from West Branch High School in 1963 and Malone College in 1967 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She went on to be a teacher at United Local Schools for 35 years, she was a caring person who touched the lives of many students. Geraldine retired from teaching at United HS in 2005. She was a life time resident of this area and was involved in Salem Area Mothers of Twins Club and the Evelyn Mercer Womens Missionary Society. Geraldine was Nominated for the Martha Holden Jennings Scholar in 1991. She was member of the North Georgetown First Brethren Church.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Joy E. Walton of Louisville and Jan I. (Scott) Schaefer of Homeworth, her siblings Donna I. (Steve) Lysyj of Norton, and Bud (Kathy) Borton of Louisville, and a brother in law Terry Shopbell of Canton. As well as 4 grandchildren Dylan and Kendall Schaefer and Ellen and Ben Walton.

In addtion to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Nancy J. Shopbell and Sondra S. Samples, and a son in law Jeff Walton.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday February 25, 2023, 1- 4 PM, at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. Service at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Joel Sousa at 4 PM.
