Hazel French Obituary

Hazel M. French (fna Miller) 70, of Warren, (formerly of the area) died Saturday afternoon, December 25, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital/ Mercy Health, following complications to COVID.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Irene French and was last employed at the Columbiana County Dept. of Job and Family Services as an IM caseworker. She attended the Leetonia Schools but later graduated from East Palestine. Hazel obtained a degree in accounting and Bus. Administration from the Ohio Valley Business School.

Hazel was a typical mother on raising six children. She often tended to favor her boys over the years. She was a very unique person who was not afraid to get her hands dirty. It was not uncommon to find her under the hood of the cars or have her motorcycle torn apart in the house. The road trips by car or bike were a big hit with her over the years. There were many trips made with family and friends to the beach in Florida. She loved the grandchildren and could sometimes talk them into going fishing with her. Hazel was an avid reader and puzzle builder during quiet times at home.

She is survived by her children; Crystal Carnes of Rogers, Charles Miller Jr. of Elkton, Billie Jo Miller of Salem, Jamie Miller of Rogers, Georgette Miller of Lisbon and Louis McPherson III of Warren, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, siblings; George French of Calif. And Mary Byers of Salem, and her beloved dog Dyna.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Miller Sr., one grandchild, and siblings; E. James, John, Sam, Mickey and Rosalee.

A time of visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 Pm at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
