Henry Long Obituary

Henry Cleo Long, 93, of Lisbon, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Truman House – Community Hospice in New Philadelphia.

He was born on June 18, 1928 in Pulaski, TN to his late parents; Harry and Jewel (Norwood) Long.

Henry married his childhood sweetheart; Betty Jane (Leipper) Long on November 11, 1947. They have shared 74 years building a lifetime together and watching it grow. He was employed at Eljer Plumbingware (currently American Standard Co.) in Salem for 30+ years. Additionally, they ran and worked their farm together, raising Tennessee Walker Horses and receiving recognition for their exceptional quality of those they raised. Henry and Betty loved to volunteer at various senior centers. There she would play her music and they would dance together and spend time visiting with the residents. They enjoyed traveling with friends. These trips took them all over, traveling extensively over the United States and enjoying the sights by sea on many of their cruise excursions.

Henry is survived by his bride of 74 years; Betty, his children; Linda Phillips of Ardmore, AL, Lois (John) Kuhns of Guilford Lake, Joel (Candie) Long of Leetonia, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by two daughters; Cheryl McGowin and Karen Wolfe, siblings; Marie Fox and Jessie Johnson.

Private service to take place for the family. He will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery.
