Howard Allen Plessinger, 78, of Salem died at 7:30 AM Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
He was born September 2, 1944, in Denbigh, Virginia, son of the late Elmer Delbert and Doris Elizabeth (Garnand) Plessinger.
Howard was a lifetime resident of the Salem area. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps from which he was honorably discharged after serving his country during the Vietnam War. He worked as a crane operator at the manufacturing company, PTC Alliance. Howard was very quick witted and a jokester. He loved gardening and woodworking, and took considerable pride in his lawn. Howard enjoyed the outdoors and was also an amazing cook.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Rose (Smith) Plessinger of Salem, whom he married June 30, 2000, his children; Tina (Ron) Stanton of Salem, Amy (Greg) Considder of Louisville, KY. Christopher (Veronica) Plessinger, Mark Dickson, Cassandra (Gary) Eichler, Christina (Andrew) Bash, and Julia (Connor) Everly, his siblings; Ruth Plessinger of Eastover, NC, David Plessinger, and Jennie Plessinger both of Gloucester, VA, and twelve grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Elsie Garnand, SR and Elijah and Bessie Plessinger, his brothers Paul and Steve Plessinger, and two grandchildren Alex and Kira.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 18, 2023, 4 PM-5:30 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services of Salem, with services to follow at 5:30 PM, the Pastor Freddie Rodriguez will be officiating. Honors will be given by the Salem Honor Guard.
