Isabelle (Lockhart) Roller

Isabelle (Lockhart) Roller, 99, of Katy, Texas, (formerly of Salem) died Sunday, surrounded by family at her home in Katy.

She was born October 2, 1924, in East Liverpool, Ohio, daughter of the late Samuel Walton and Sylvia (Campbell) Lockhart.

Isabelle graduated in 1942 from Salem Senior High School. She was the first female to go through the industrial arts program at Salem High School, learning mechanical drawing/drafting. She did so well that later Isabelle was called back by the instructors to share her knowledge and to teach the night classes. Early on after graduation she worked at Electric Furnace in Salem. Later in life she also had various other jobs and worked for Bob Roberts for a time. In 1980 she moved to Katy, Texas to be close to her family. When Isabelle was younger she would sew and make clothing for herself and others in the family. Isabelle had been previously active in the Methodist Church in Salem, and most recently in Texas. She was involved with a group of ladies that went to lunch once a month in Katy. She enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling to various places, going on bus trips, and most notably flying to Aruba once. On Isabelle’s 90th birthday she went up in a hotair balloon and was looking forward to doing it again on her 100th.

She is survived by her daughters Annette (Johnny) Roller-Saulsberry and Christine Roller-Sharp, and her partner Robert Hall all of Katy, TX, as well as four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Roller in 1965, and her siblings Sammae Stoudt and Daniel Lockhart.

She will be laid to rest Friday, October 27, 2023, beside her husband in Grandview Cemetery, Salem.
