John Wayne King, 78, of Salem, OH, passed away at 2:17 pm., on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 3, 1943 in McCracken, PA, to his late parents; Gene and Bertha (Ward) King.
John was a 1963 graduate of Beaver Local High School. He was a Truck Driver by trade carrying freight. He was married to Betty Lou (Duke) King, until her passing in August of 2020. They were married 26 years before her passing. John liked to keep busy and liked to work with his hands. He enjoyed doing latch hook and was a gifted craftsman when it came to working with wood. To challenge his mind, he worked crossword and word search puzzles. You could find him most Saturdays watching college football or any day of the week that his favorite Kansas City Chiefs were playing. But, his favorite sports team to watch was any that his children or grandchildren played on. John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
John is survived by his step-children; Eric (Michele Peterson) McClish, Monica (Jeremy) Simpson, Elizabeth “Beth” McClish, 11 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren, siblings; Jerry (Patty Palmerie) King, Nancy Aiello, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, John is preceded in death by an infant son; Bobby, step-son; Christopher McClish, 1 step-grandchild, siblings; Jean Campa, and Richard King.
There was a time of visitation to honor John on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 5p-6p at the funeral home of Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services of Salem, OH. Services will follow at 6p, with the Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial took place at 10a, Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Crest Haven Cemetery in New Waterford, OH.
