Kathleen Diane McConnell

Kathleen Diane (Hoover) McConnell, 73, passed away at 7:40 p.m on Friday, April 2, 2021 at her home in Salem, Ohio.

She was born on February 9, 1948, in New Castle, Pa., the daughter of the late; Dan and Donna (Shaffer) Hoover.

Kathleen was a 1967 graduate from high school in New Wilmington, Pa. She married her loving husband; Richard McConnell on November 11, 1967 sharing 53 years of marriage together.

Kathleen spent her life devoted to her family and making their house a loving home. Kathleen enjoyed spending the day going to auctions. She was also someone who loved to create with her hands. She was an avid sower and spent many hours in her garden working the soil, sharing, and enjoying the toil of her labor with her family. She was a former member of the Canton Faith Family Church. She was deeply grounded in her faith and the love she had for God was so reflective in the love that she had for His creation. Kathleen was know as a person who would give the shirt of her back to anyone in need. Not only was she giving to people in need, she also had a huge heart for rescue dogs and at last count, was responsible for saving at least 25 dogs. Kathleen lead a life in service of others, sharing her heart and her faith with as many as she could...and she would not have wanted it any other way.

In addition to her husband; Kathleen is survived by her children; Eva (Mike) Slagle of Damascus, Ohio, Calvin McConnell of Salem, Ohio, 3 grandchildren; Joshua, Jonathan, and Taylor Slagle, siblings; Gary (Mary) of Pa., Sue (Gary) Anthony of Grove City, Pa., D. Frank Hoover Jr. of New Wilmington, Pa., Thomas (Susan) Hoover of New Castle, Pa., Terry (Michelle) Hoover of Pulaski, Pa.
