Larry Dearth Obituary

Larry William Dearth, 81, of Salem, died at 11:02 AM on September 16, 2022 in the emergency room at Salem Regional Medical Center after being a five time cancer survivor only to be taken from us with his last cancer battle. Larry was a fighter and to many of his doctors he was known as the “Miracle Man”.

Mr Dearth was born in Youngstown, Ohio along with his twin brother, to Charles William and Glendalia Virginia (Hall) Dearth on August 19, 1941.

He was a 1960 graduate of Goshen High School. Both he and his brother proudly served with the United States Navy from 1960-1962 aboard the U.S.S. Henley during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked at the General Motors Plant in Lordstown retiring in 2005 after 40 years. He loved cheering for the Cleveland Browns, watching Gunsmoke and Jeopardy. But what brought him the most joy was spending time with his family and playing with his great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean (Dixon) Dearth whom he married October 27, 1963, his two daughters Tracy Dearth of Salem and Lori (Bruce Sweely/Bill Mossow) Dearth of Beloit, a son Larry (Cristy) Dearth of KY, sister Wanda Rogers of Beloit, grandchildren; Alexandria Mossow, Victoria (Jessi) Carpenter, Olivia Mossow, Chelsey Dearth, Clay Dearth, as well as great grandchildren; Lane Loving, Brantley Lude, Montgomery Willis, and Cohen Carpenter.

Larry was preceded in death by his twin brother and best friend Jerry Dearth, his sister Nancy Houshen, and brother in law James Rogers.
