Mary Forsythe Obituary

Mary (Arbaugh) Forsythe 82, of Salem, died at 3:43 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Damascus following a 9 month illness.

She was born on October 27, 1938 in Massillon, Ohio, the daughter of the late Chester and Betty (Reed) Arbaugh.

She has resided in Salem since 1974, coming from Canton. She was a former co-owner of the Dinner Bell Restaurant on West State Street in Salem. She and her husband Charlie also operated food trailers. The last most remembered location was the turkey legs cooked in the black train engine at the Rogers Sale on Fridays.

Mary had one of the most loving and sweet dispositions to those around her. She will be remembered by many how she would joke and kid around. Mary liked to go shopping for bargains and find some good antique deals. She and Charlie always enjoyed a good day out fishing and spending time in the great outdoors.

She is survived by her children; Diane (Ronald) Heath of E. Canton, Sabrina (David) Brewer of Canfield, Denise Krebs of Salem, Charles (Melinda) Forsythe of Beaver Creek and Jeffrey (Glenda) Forsythe of Tuscarawas, sister; Susan (Joseph) Small of Canton, and many grand and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Charles E. Forsythe who died on November 4, 2000, a son; Edwin Goehring on November 8, 2016, a grandson; David S. Royea Jr. on January 8, 2021, and a brother Thomas Arbaugh.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, 1:30 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. Her son, Charles Forsythe from the Xenia Church of Christ will be officiating. The burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. A time of visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
