Mary Sue (Barringer) (fka Webb) Gilbert 69, of Salem, died Wednesday morning, August 25, 2021, at Salem Regional Medical Center.
She was born on May 28, 1952, in Alliance, Oh., the daughter of William Barringer and Kathy (Thomas) Barringer Wyckoff.
She was a lifetime area resident, an active well-rooted member of the First Brethren Church in N. Georgetown.
Mary will be fondly remembered by family and friends in various ways. She had a real spirit about her and showed it when she would dance. The outdoors was where she spent a lot of time in the flower gardens, cookouts with the family, nice walks, or her many trips to Lake Erie. Mary was the one who was there when someone needed something. She would take the shirt off her back to help another. There were many memories made going out to lunch with her friends. She always tried to be the nucleus of the family on keeping everyone together. Her routine on Sunday was to visit one of the children after church and have lunch. The time spent with the grandchildren will always be special since at times she was their “private taxi service”.
She is survived by her children; Lonnie (Tina) Gilbert Jr. and Debbie (Robert) Morris both of Salem, siblings; Barbara (Austin) Simms in PA., Roy and Larry Barringer of Alliance and Chris Barringer of Salem, Seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1994 by her second husband, Gerald Gilbert, siblings; Darlene Hall, Terry Stoffer and Roger Barringer.
Services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, 1:30 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Rev. Joel Soza of the church will be officiating, the burial will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
