Opal Iona (Holleman) Hrebovcin, 95, of Washingtonville, Ohio, passed away at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem, at 5:27 am on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
Opal was born on September 28, 1925, in Wellsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Barnete D. and Iva Ann (Birchard) Holleman, and her stepfather Bill Mentzer.
Opal was 1943 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon, OH. She attended church at the Lisbon Nazarene Church.
Opal liked to keep busy and active with an array of interests. She loved to keep her mind engaged by working on puzzles, crosswords, and the like. She also enjoyed diving into a good book. She especially enjoyed a challenging game of euchre with her friends at the Senior Center. Whether it was planting flowers or going for rides in the car, Opal enjoyed spending time outdoors. Opal enjoyed listening to music, singing and was also know to “kick up her heels” on the dance floor.
Opal is survived by a son; Gary (Deb) Barnes, and a daughter; Bonnie (David) Cairnes, both of Lisbon, Ohio, as well as, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by a sister; Deloris Newbold of Columbiana, Ohio.
Along with her parents and stepfather, Opal is preceded in death by 3 sons; Harry, Terry and Karry Bennett, 3 grandchildren; Ed and Wayne Shamp, and Wayne Hale, 3 brothers; Dale, Herbert and Durwood Holleman, and a sister; Thelma Dickens.
The family has planned to have private services for Opal.
