Stephen Monday Obituary

Stephen Lee Monday, 64, of Salem, OH, passed away at 10:25 a. m., on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born on January 10, 1958, in Findlay, OH, to his late parents; Glen and Edna (Tooman) Monday.

Stephen was a mechanic by trade, as well as gifted in carpentry. He enjoyed tinkering on and fixing things, especially cars and the older models in particular. Stephen was a very free-spirited person. In his younger years, his adventurous spirit found him often spending his free time on almost anything with wheels, such as his 4 wheeler, dirt bike, and motorcycle. He was talented as a singer and an artist. He loved dogs and a gift to train them to do tricks and obey.   He had a goofy and yet sensitive side and loved to make the kids laugh with his Donald Duck voice. He liked to keep up on all that was happening in the world and enjoyed watching the news on TV or listening to it on the radio. He was most thankful for finding his way back to church and getting his life headed in the right direction and back on track. This also opened the door to get back with his family and enjoyed coming to the family gatherings. Stephen was a gracious and giving man. He was always eager to help and gave more than he received. He will be greatly missed. He had a rough exterior, but more importantly, he had a silly side that really showed how much he cared for others.

Stephen is survived by his wife; Renee Monday whom he had been married to for 44 years, children; Robert (Fawn) Smith of AL, Shawna (Mike) Solmen of Salem, Tonia (Gabe Winters) Smith of Youngstown, Anthony “AJ” (Jeanna) Monday, of Canton, 8 grandchildren; Kirk (Saryna) Solmen, Owen (Sydnie) Solmen, Lyvvie (Hayden) Street, Nathaniel Smith, Lilly Smith, Jasmine Smith, Cameron Smith and Emma Monday, siblings; Kathy (Charles) Burkey of Deerfield, Richard Monday of Findlay, Paul (Nancy) Cunningham of Ravenna, Terry Smith, Wanda (Steve) Folger, Sarah (Steve) Foster all of Salem, and Judy (Eric) Minich of Alliance, and his stepbrothers and sisters; Darrell (Myrna) Monday, Kandi Tarr, Chrissy (Ty) Moore and Kevin (Tia Celia) Monday, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-sister Connie Holloway, stepfather Milford Eugene Smith.

Services will be held at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem, on Saturday, at 2 p. m., with the Rev. Denny Land from the Champion Church of God officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-2 p. m.
