Thomas Patrick Michaels, 49, of Salem, OH, passed away at 1:17 p. m., on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Salem Regional Medical Center due to complications from Covid 19.
He was born on September 4, 1972, in Salem, the son of Sheryl Lynn (Maloy) Vance and his stepfather, the late Dr. Ralph B. Vance.
Thomas was a graduate of Salem High School and was employed as a forklift operator for Ventra Salem for 27 years. He married Sara (Furrer) Michaels on October 10, 1999, and recently celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. Tom enjoyed traveling. Some of his favorite places to travel to were Chautauqua, NY, and to Myrtle Beach. He enjoyed good food and good music. Tom was a collector of things. He was a car enthusiast and liked to go for drives. He was especially fond of Pontiacs and Chevy’s and if they were red, his favorite color, then that was the icing on the cake. He was a die-hard Steelers fan and would be pleased that they made it into the playoffs this year. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Sara Lois (Furrer) Michaels, his children; Tara (Robert) Plegge, Haley Michaels, Kelsey Michaels all of Salem, 2 grandchildren; Jackson Moore and Laylianna Plegge, siblings; Timothy Michaels of Savannah, GA, and Kerry Ann Vance of Salem.
