Wilbert Mitchell Jr. Obituary

Wilbert Sadler “Butch” Mitchell Jr. 62 of Salem, died at 4:35 PM Thursday, November 24, 2022, at his home.

He was born in Lawrence County, Pa., the son of the late Wilbert Sadler and Barbara Diane (Swiger) Mitchell Sr.

Wilbert moved back to the area in July from Pennsylvania. It made it easier to spend time with the grandchildren and close family. He learned over his life how to do many things. A very mechanically minded individual, which allowed him to work on his vehicles and help others as well. His knowledge of construction and remodeling was always handy, he could have built a whole house with his experience.

Wilbert's work over the years kinda followed his talents. He had been a window installer, roofer, all types of construction work, he drove truck, farm work as well as working at the mushroom farm in North Lima.

He had a click of friends he stayed close with, sharing stories and just plain talking. In his younger years, the Gin Mill was a favorite stomping grounds of his. In the more recent years, a bit more laid back, relaxing, partaking in some of nature's herbs to feel better.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Timm) Mitchell of Salem, his children of Salem; Lisa Mitchell, Jamie (William) Long, Heather Mitchell (his care giver) and Joseph Mitchell, his siblings Jeffery Mitchell and Kimberly Mitchell of Pennsylvania, as well as eleven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant daughter; Christy Mitchell.

There will be no services at this time. The family has planned to have a gathering in the near future.
