William Franklin Scyoc 74, of Columbiana, died at 7:33 AM Thursday, June 17, 2021, at his home.
He was born on November 22, 1946, in Lowman Ridge (Pine Grove) W.Va., the son of the late Clarence W. and Ida Mae (Yoho) Scyoc.
Bill moved to the area in 1965 from West Virginia. He was a Motor Coach Driver for Columbiana Coach Lines for nearly 22 years. The biggest thing in life that he enjoyed was the sound of the small engines running, it was like sweet music to his ears. Bill enjoyed working on lawnmowers, chain saws, and string trimmers most of his life. Bill also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from February 8, 1966, to November 13, 1967.
There are several people who were special to Bill that helped when he needed parts. Maggie at Middleton Ace hardware kept him moving, a nephew, Eddy, and grandson, Davey who would come and crank up the saws so Pap could hear them run. A very special “Loving and Caring Thanks” to Bruce Trayes (“our third Son”) for being there and giving a helping hand when we needed it. It was his family, friends, and those special people who made his life enjoyable over the years. We would also like to thank Community Hospice for allowing Bill to have his final wish granted, to be at home for his final days. It was their love, care, and compassion that made his final days very comfortable.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Lynn (Newlen) (fka Ingram, Maruca) Scyoc whom he married on August 28, 2010, his children, William F. (Anessa) Scyoc II of Youngstown and David M. (Jesse) Scyoc of Salem, grandchildren: Brooke (Alan) Shaffer, David M. Scyoc II, Peyton R. Scyoc, Ira B. (Buck) Scyoc, William “Billy” Scyoc III, Shelby (Jason) Dye and Sarah Scyoc and many great grandchildren, siblings: Eddie Scyoc of Salem, Earl (Linda) Scyoc of Lisbon, David (Debbie) Scyoc of Leetonia, and those back home in West Virginia: Olive Carl, Jim Scyoc, Shirley (Anthony or AD) Morris, Sharon (Mark Cole) Scyoc and Cheryl (Chris) Hillberry, with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 stillborn brothers and his brother Benton who was 6 weeks old, sisters-in-laws, Debbie Scyoc and Linda Scyoc, brother-in-law Paul Carl, and a sister Inez “Sue” Crihfield.
