William Lee “Bill” Dudley 84, of Salem, died at 9:05 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in the emergency room of Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born on October 5, 1937, in Ellsworth, Ohio, the son of the late Luther Ashford and Thalia (Barnes) Dudley.
Bill owned Town & Country Trenching in Salem for over 30 years in addition to doing water conditioning sales & installation, plumbing work and working with gas wells. He was a veteran of the US Army where he Honorably served during his tour of duty. He departed as an SP4, served as an MP, and was afforded the opportunity to jump from a plane.
Bill was known for his knack and ability to collect and save things over the years. He was big into antiques, guns, and just plain old things. His reading found him following those same topics and then watching things on the TV.
The adventurous side of him took him out to travel around some. In his younger years, he hitchhiked twice across the United States. Bill was a member of the Beaver Creek Sportsman Club and was known over the years for running their turkey shoots. He will always be remembered for all those stories he told from his life experiences.
He is survived by his daughters; Cyndie Beagle and Aimee (Robert) Kemats of Salem, his very loved Yorkie poo mix and constant companion Elvira, siblings; Sandra Custer of Columbiana, Janet Phillips and Bernard (Joyce) Dudley both of Salem, grandchildren; William “Will” (Lynsi) Beagle, Sarah (Jason) Schaadt and Blade (Katie Moore) Kemats, and one great-grandchild; Dylan Schaadt.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death on February 7, 2016, by his wife, Norma Jean (Covert) Dudley, a daughter; Pamela Dudley, siblings; Robert, Harold, and Ronald Dudley.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 1 Pm at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. Pastor Russell Libb will be officiating. The Salem Honor Guard will offer military honors at 1 PM. At the funeral home. The burial will follow at Ellsworth Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 12 pm to 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
